Swans and IT

This week I've been working to get Google Apps ( http://google.com/a ) integrated with Westmont for our students and alums. We have a team of 5 people creating various parts and pieces that are required to provide a seamless transition and an experience for users that "Just Works." Between the Single Sign-On (SSO) mechanism which needs to link Westmont's LDAP authentication with Google, and making sure the passwords needed by IMAP are synchronized between Westmont and Google. The migration of 800 Gigabytes of email is a non-trivial task, but to the users none of this matters: it has to be like the swan - smoothly, gracefully floating on the ripple-free water, but underneath, little feet are going like mad!
